Welcome the new ’Dolls of Fenway
Red Sox [team stats] pitcher Jon Lester [stats] may have undressed the Kansas City Royals in his no-hitter Monday night, but a different kind of undressing is coming to the Fenway area.
Boston Babydolls burlesque has set up shop just a tassle-spin from Fenway Park [map]. The orphaned Paradise Lounge monthly performance act has found a new home at the Boston Billiard Club, 126 Brookline Ave.
But don’t expect to see a mix of burlesque and Red Sox Nation. The ’Dolls’ upcoming shows (June 18, July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17) all fall on Wednesdays when the Red Sox are out of town. That was by design.
“Boston Billiard Club has no shortage of business on nights when the Red Sox are playing at home,” said Babydolls honcho Mr. Scratch. “I’m not saying that there aren’t burlesque performers that wouldn’t fit right in with crowds of drunk guys - we’re just not them.”

Drinkin’ the dance Juice
Thirsty for some Afro Juice? Then head to Church, naturally.
The Fenway nightclub (69 Kilmarnock St.) christens the new Afro Juice monthly dance party that aims to put some ’60s and ’70s soul in Boston’s burgeoning dance scene. The good times kick off onSunday.
“The idea behind the night is to combine a live performance by a jazz, soul, funk and afro-beat style group with DJs spinning uptempo music of similar genres,” said organizer and DJ Deano Sounds, the brains behind the eclectic but now-defunct Mood Mosiac night at Redline in Cambridge.
Adding the live flavor to the night’s debut is Jen Kearney and the Lost Onion.
“Their music is just the right combination of soulful vocals and Latin grooves,” Sounds said.
